City of Chipley hosts holiday dinner for employees and families …………

Service Awards presented to 15 employees and ‘Employee of the Year recognized.

Santa Claus was on hand to greet the youngsters and hand out presents.

While Friday’s luncheon was a fun experience for all concerned, the presentation of the ‘Employee of the Year’ plaque took top billing with that recognition going to James Shakelford of the Public Works Department. The plaque was presented by Guy Lane.

Also receiving recognition, were the following recipients of Service Awards:

  • Phillip Adams – 45 years
  • Gary Hall, Jr. – 35 years
  • Paul Demaree – 20 years
  • Ambers Carter – 20 years
  • Brad Adams – 20 years
  • Mikeal Thomas – 15 years
  • Shane Sanders – 15 years
  • Scott Thompson – 15 years
  • Teresa Sims – 10 years
  • Troy Windham – 10 years
  • Mathew Pope – 10 years
  • Jason Byrd – 10 years
  • James Shackelford – 5 years
  • Chris Folsom – 5 years

Chipley Mayor Tracy Andrews welcomed everyone to the holiday gala and thanked the city’s employees, as well as their families, for the long hours they have worked since Hurricane Michael hit the Panhandle. The council members agreed with City Administrator Dan Miner who told those working with the city “make us look good”.

Looking ahead to 2019, Mayor Andrews told those at the luncheon she hoped the City would finalize closing on the sprayfield property, hire additional employees through CareerSource, and continue the debris cleanup from Hurricane Michael.
