Released by the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services ——
Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and its Division of Licensing are responsible for the processing of applications for and issuance of concealed weapons licenses.
This past weekend, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) was delayed in transmitting criminal history data to the Division of Licensing during the implementation of FDLE’s new criminal history system.
The FDLE delay has not impacted the continued processing of concealed weapons licenses. The Department has not halted the processing of applications, and continues to issue, renew, and revoke concealed weapons licenses fully within the statutory timeframes, and in accordance with Section 790.06, Florida Statutes.
Commissioner Nicole “Nikki” Fried released the following statement:
“Our Department is committed to processing and issuing concealed weapons licenses to all qualified applicants, and to ensuring that all applicants are subject to an extensive, comprehensive, and timely criminal background check, as required by law.”
