Jimmy Ray Turner, Sr. passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the age of 70. He was a native of Jackson County, born in Cottondale, Florida on November 20, 1948 to the late Henry D. and Flossie Virginia Meadows Turner. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country in the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed his profession as a semi truck driver. Jimmy was also an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt. His greatest accomplishment and love was being a father and grandpa.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother , Henry D. Turner, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Pat Turner of Marianna; son, Jimmy Ray Turner Jr. and wife Linda of Grand Ridge; siblings, James Turner and wife Gloria of Panama City, Margaret McGinty and husband Reggie of Alford, Mary Kimbro and husband Kevin of Cottondale, Kathy Mowers of Cottondale, Gracie Miles and husband Rick of Cottondale. Jimmy is also survived by one grandson, Tripp Turner and a host of other family members.
Funeral Services for Jimmy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2018, in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Lavon Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Church Cemetery in Cottondale with military honors. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
In lieu of flowers the famly has asked donations be made to the Shaddai Shriners (P.O. Box 16115 Panama City, FL 32405)
