After listening to members of their community concerning the lack of recreational activities Thursday night, Wausau Town Council members agreed to the offer of volunteer Steve Hallmark to help revitalize the community’s recreation program.
While no particular plans were discussed at the meeting, Hallmark said he would be developing a program and would keep the council members informed.
Council members also discussed the dog problem brought to their attention by a resident of Wausau. The gentlemen said his wife was chased back into their home by a neighbor’s dog.
Council members were told that the town’s animal trap had been stolen, but thet were in the process of replacing the unit.
Council members were told that part of the problem comes with animals escaping from broken cages, harassing neighbors, and then be placed back in the broken cages.
Wausau residents were reminded that all dogs must be registered at Town Hall.
The following announcements were made:
- There will be a check presentation to the Fire Department on Feb. 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at Town Hall. The State will be presenting a check for Air Packs.
- Wausau Fire Department will be hosting a Fish Fry on Saturday, March 16th,
- Fun/Possum Day Parade will be Aug. 3rd at 10 a.m.
- Christmas Parade will be Dec. 14th at 10 a.m.
David Ferguson reported that the the Town’s Maintenance Department was moving slowly, but added that work was “coming together”, and that all signs had been reset.
Council members approved the following agenda items at Thursday’s meeting:
- Payment of Town Bills
- Minutes of the December 2018/January 2019 meetings
- Reconciled Bank Statements
- Resignation of Joy Hall with the Town’s Recreation Department
