Along with welcoming a inner-club from the DeFuniak Springs Kiwanis Club to their Feb. 26th meeting, members of the Chipley Kiwanis Club were delighted to welcome Gary Clark, Florida Public Service Commission, to Tuesday’s meeting.
Kiwanians were also reminded of the following upcoming events:
- Spaghetti Supper hosted by Farm Bureau on Friday, March 1st, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Youth Fair.
- Washington-Holmes Relay for Life on April 12th at Pals Park in Chipley from 6 p.m. until midnight.
Speaking at the meeting, Clark said he found working with the Public Service Commission to be “challenging” since public utilities faced significant destruction from Hurricane Michael, but added he was looking forward to the upcoming Legislative Session since more than 150 bills have been pre-filed dealing with the Public Service Commission.
The Florida Public Service Commission is committed to making sure that Florida’s consumers receive some of their most essential services — electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater — in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. In doing so, the PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in one or more of three key areas: rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
