The Indians hung on to beat Palm Beach State 75-72 in Thursday night’s opening round of the NJCAA Region VIII/FCSAA State Tournament.
Chipola led by as many as 10 points, but the Panthers clawed their way back.
“Hats-off to Palm Beach,” said Coach Brendan Foley. “They’re a really good team that beat us earlier this year and they certainly didn’t make it easy on us again tonight.”
Keishawn Brewton led the team with 28 points and Daniel Oladapo had 19 points.
Foley was proud of how his team continued to fight.
“I thought we did a good job defensively as a team to execute the game play,” he said. “We got out-rebounded and still found a way to win.”
“I’m proud of our group and they way they fought for 40 minutes,” Foley continued.
The Indians advance to the semifinals and will face the winner of Eastern Florida State. Tip is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST. Bracket and viewing info here: http://bit.ly/2T3dXln
