On March 8th, the Washington County Council on Aging, Inc. hosted a retirement party for Ms. Monk. Family and friends came to celebrate her for the impact she has made in the lives of so many.
Ms. Monk began her career in the early 80’s as a volunteer with Ms. Agnex Baxter. Over the years she has worked under the direction of Mrs. Mary Enfinger, Mrs. Mary Smith, and Mrs. Anita Clarke.
In March of 1988, she was hired as an employee as Program Coordinator, for Chore and Home Delivered Meals. Her responsibilities were to assess clients for their needs regarding nutrition, pack and sort meals (both hot and frozen) to be delivered , deliver the meals to the clients, prepare meals on-site, and grocery shop for seniors.
Ms. Monk was a very dedicated, dependable employee who would go above and beyond to help in any way to meet the needs of the community’s seniors. She was exemplary in her service to the Agency, an employee who never gave a reason to be reprimanded.
Through her many years of service, there have been changes to the program that have added responsibilities and challenges. Yet, Ms. Monk embraced the changes and never gave up, just as she always has. Her work ethic was a true reflection of the type of person she is, genuine, caring, and giving. She lived out the scripture that says “Let all you do be done in love,” 1 Corinthians 16:14. She encourages everyone to live and work in such a way.
On behalf of the Washington County Council on Aging Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and the many seniors she has helped in her 31 yeawrs of service, we would like to wish her the best in her retirement.
