During Thursday’s meeting of the Washington County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) commissioners were approached by board members from TJ Roulhac Enrichement Center in Chipley requesting assistance in getting grants to help keep the facility open to community residents.
The TJ Roulhac Enrichment Center is located at 651 Pecan Street in Chipley and belongs to the BOCC, with the TJ Roulhac Board having a 99 year lease on the facility.
The Rev. Leonard Blount was present asking commissioners for their help and provided commissioners with information showing the varied services provided through the Enrichment Center – including the following:
- Gym
- Athletic Program
- Free Medical Clinic
- Electronic Classroom
- Music Lessons
- Reading Computer Lab
- Tutoring and Mentoring
- Performing Arts – Dance & Drama, Visual Arts, Arts & Crafts
- Free Medical Clinic every other Monday
The fenced campus consists of 20 classrooms, a full scale gym with new lights, a refinished floor and new plumbing, a cafeteria/auditorium with a full scale commercial kitchen, and a play ground that includes a paved outdoor basketball court.
The Enrichment Center also provides mentorship and college outreach programs in conjunction with Florida State University ‘Degree Seekers’.
