Event will include survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland
Students from across Florida will be at the state Capitol on Wednesday, April 3, to oppose Senate Bill 7030 and House Bill 7093. The legislation seeks to allow teachers to carry guns in the classroom if they meet certain criteria.
Students will arrive by bus from Tampa, Orlando, and Gainesville, meet with state legislators and sit in the House Chamber as Representatives debate HB 7093. The Day of Action will end with a rally and press conference at the Capitol.
What: March For Our Lives Day of Action
When: 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3
Where: Back steps of the Historic Capitol
Speakers will include:
• Aalayah Eastmond, survivor of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting
• Aly Sheehy, survivor of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting
• Trevor Wild, Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduate and president of Never Again UCF
Opponents of arming teachers, state legislators and groups sponsoring the Day of Action will also participate in the rally.
The Day of Action is sponsored by the Florida Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence. Members of the coalition include the League of Women Voters of Florida, the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus, the SPLC Action Fund, Equality Florida, March for Our Lives, Gays Against Guns and the Dru Project.
