Released by Gulf Coast State College …
Panama City, FL ¬– Gulf Coast State College’s Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) was selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as the 2019 VBOC of the Year. This is their second recognition as they were also named VBOC of the Year in 2014.
The VBOC serves active duty personnel, veterans and military spouses who want to learn more about, then start and grow a small business of their own. They serve the entire state of Florida from their headquarters at Gulf Coast State College. The SBA noted the VBOC’s hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to the community as making significant contributions to Florida’s and the nation’s economic growth.
“The Florida VBOC at GCSC is unique in that our office serves a large number of military installations, and we extended our outreach to assist additional populations of veterans and military spouses with their business aspirations,” explained Brent Peacock, VBOC Associate Director and Business Analyst. “We offer transition training at twelve military bases to active duty, retired service members and military spouses within the state of Florida. Although we faced unprecedented challenges due to Hurricane Michael, the VBOC was able to meet our objectives and deliverables as laid out by the SBA’s Office of Veteran Business Development. We are pleased to be recognized for our service to Florida’s military entrepreneurial population as delivered by our team of impassioned, dedicated professionals.”
The SBA will celebrate all state and national winners in Washington D.C. on May 5-6. For more information about the VBOC and the services they provide, please contact them at (800) 542.7232 or info@VBOC.org.
