Meeting April 10th for their annual meeting the Washington County Local Mitigation Strategy Committee decided to proceed with plans that could eventuallty help property owners who are having problems with flood waters destroying their homes in several areas of the county.
While LMSC members said Wednesday it won’t be a quick fix, they feel updating the county’s mitigation plan will give them the leverage needed to seek funding sources for such a project.
Work will now get underway to contact impacted property owners and see how many may actually be interested in selling. Committee members said once the property is sold it will never be developed again.
