MARIANNA—The Chipola Lady Indians softball team hosts Northwest in the final home game of the regular season, Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m.
Chipola is the Panhandle Conference champion and will play in the FCSAA State Tournament May 2-5, 2019 at Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Seminole County, Florida.
Chipola’s Ally Clegg is the NJCAA Region 8 Softball Player of the Week. The sophomore third baseman from Leesburg, Ga., batted .750 (9-for-12) with 11 runs scored, one double, four home runs, 11 RBIs and three stolen bases in four games during the voting period. She hit safely in each game as the Indians posted a 3-1 week and clinched the Panhandle Conference Championship. Clegg was 6-for-7 with four home runs and nine RBI in a doubleheader against Tallahassee.
The Panhandle Conference standings as of April 12, are: Chipola (16-1), Gulf Coast (10-8), Northwest (8-10), Pensacola (7-10) and Tallahasee (3-15).
At 40-4 overall, Chipola is second in the FCSAA State poll behind Florida Southwestern (42-1).
