MARIANNA—Eleven Chipola College softball players have been named to the Panhandle All-Conference team.
Head Coach Belinda Hendrix and Jimmy Hendrix, Associate Head Coach, were named Panhandle Coaches of the Year.
Candela Figeroa was named Player of the Year. The Sophomore catcher has 55 stolen bases and is hitting .465 with 10 homeruns.
Brianna Bailey was named Pitcher of the Year. She is 21-2 on the year with a 1.21 ERA.
Chipola’s first team All-Conference selections include: Pitchers—Brianna Bailey; Infielders—Haley Sandridge, and Ally Clegg; Outfielders—Eila Infante and Mikayla Lewin; Catcher—Candela Figueroa; At-Large—Amy Woodham.
Second team selections include: Infielders— Sydney Mclain and Outfielder— Taylor Scala and Catcher—Tammie Lijbers. Lauren Finch earned Honorable Mention honors.
Chipola is the Panhandle Conference champion and will play in the FCSAA State Tournament May 2-5, 2019 at Boombah Soldiers Creek Park in Seminole County, Florida.
The team has appeared in 15 straight state tournaments. Chipola finished last year with a 56-4 record as Runners-Up in both the FCSAA State and NJCAA National Tournaments.
