Released by the Florida Highway Patrol …
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that two individuals died in a two vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Holmes County.
Killed in the crash were Shakeya Morrison, 35, of Augusta, Georgia, and Kenneth Smith, 75, of Slocomb, Alabana.
According to the FHP, Morrison was driving a 2005 Honda Accord eastbound on U.S. 90 in the eastbound lane and failed to maintain it’s lane and entered into the westbound lane of travel. The front left of Honda collided with the front left of a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Ronnie Skinner, 72, of Slocomb, Alabama.
After initial impact the Honda began to travel off the paved portion of the roadway, coming to final rest on the northern shoulder of U.S. 90 facing in a northeasterly direction. The Ford began to travel in a southwest direction crossing the center line, traveling into the eastbound travel lane. The Ford came to final rest in the eastbound lane facing in a westerly direction.
Skinner was listed as in critical condition in a Ft. Walton medical facility following the accident; however, his passenger, Kenneth Smith, died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash.
