The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that a Marianna man, 73-year-old Larry Brock, died today of injuries sustained in a mid-morning accident on his property in Jackson County.

According to the FHP, a drump truck driven by 63-year-old Terry Wilson of Altha, Florida, had delivered a load of dirt to Brock’s home. After raising the dump bed of the dump truck to deliever the dirt, Wilson pulled forward to ensure all of the dirt had been off-loaded. As a result of pulling forward with the dump bed up, the dump bed entangled a power line that ran overhead. As the dump bed was lowered, it caused the power line to brake and fall, landing on Mr. Brock who was standing close by.

Mr. Brock succumbed to his injuries after being struck by the live power line and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Jackson County Fire Rescue personnel.

The incident is under investigation and charges are pending according to the FHP.
