The Chipley Kiwanis Club started off Tuesday’s meeting by presenting a check to the Distinguished Young Women of Washington County and continued with a tribute to the public school educators throughout the county.
Kiwanian Dale Corbin presented the check for the Distinguished Young Women to Zoe Shafer and Tea Lane.
Then gifts were distributed to the principals of the public schools throughout Washington County to be passed on to the faculty at the schools on behalf of the Kiwanis Club.
On hand to accept the gifts on behalf of the educators were:
- Vernon Elementary School – Steve Griffin
- Vernon Middle School & Vernon High School – Brian Riviere
- Kate Smith Elementary School – Lesa Burdashaw
- Roulhac Middle School – Nancy Holly
- Chipley High School – Alicia Clemmons
- WISE – Sam Cox
- WAVE – Troy Peoples
Washington County School Superintendent Joe Taylor thanked his fellow Kiwanians for their continuing support of the educational system.
Before closing the meeting club president LaMerle Fietsma reminded members that the annual Postal Food Drive will be coming up on Saturday and reminded everyone to place food items (in a sack) at their respective mail boxes.
