Mr. Herbert Brice Lawley Jr., 77, of Panama City, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019. He was born in Bessemer, AL to Herbert Brice Lawley, Sr. and Virginia Jennings Lawley on October 7, 1941. Mr. Lawley had been a resident of Bay County since 1976 and served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, until his retirement from Tyndall AFB.
He was a member of the SembachMissileers and calibrated the Atomic clock in Colorado. Mr. Lawley was a Master Freemason for 48 years and was a member of Callaway Lodge#369. He was also a member of the Shaddai Shrine Temple for 45 years.
Herb brought many things to people’s lives and added to us all as individuals. He was a role model and showed us all what a man was supposed to be and how they should act. He was fair, honest, had integrity, and was a decent and kind man. He had a great sense of humor and dry wit.
He taught his children the value of hard work. He was a great father, a great provider, a great friend, and a great man. Herb LOVED Alabama football…….ROLL TIDE! Herb loved computers and technology. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He loved animals of all kinds and had horses, dogs, cats, chickens and Roosters. He also loved the French Quarter.
Mr. Lawley is survived by his wife of 27 years, Micki W. Lawley of Panama City; three sons, Herbert Lawley III (Stacy Burris) of Panama City Beach, Kerry Lawley of Greenhead, Michael Lawley (Kim) of Tampa; one daughter, Jennifer Lawley of Greenhead; two brothers, Gary Lawley of Warner Robbins, GA and Charles Kilgore Jr. of Cape Canaveral, FL; one sister, Diann Reese of Jordan, UT; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Southerland Event Center in Lynn Haven. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at Valhalla Cemetery in Bessemer, AL.
