Panama City, FL – On Tuesday, May 21, the Doolittle Institute, in association with Gulf Coast State College, and Bay District Schools, will be hosting the Northwest Florida FIRST® LEGO® League Junior Expo. FIRST® publishes a new challenge for student robotics teams annually, and this year’s challenge is MISSION MOON.
Seven teams of elementary students from the district will share their Moon Base LEGO® robotics research models they designed and created for the MISSION MOON challenge, which include ideas on what you would need to know in order to survive on the moon, such as how to get food, air and energy among other problems that could arise.
The Northwest Florida FIRST® LEGO® League Junior Expo will be held in GCSC’s Advanced Technology Center at 10:00 a.m. with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, the Galactic Squirrels, a local FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team, will be on-hand to display their robot and answer questions. Tours of the Advanced Technology Center will also be provided. The expo is free and open to the community.
