The “Southern Belles” once staffed the switchboards and offices of the Panhandle’s telephone service company and on Saturday the members of the Washington County Historical Society took the opportunity to thank those who carried on that tradition with a reception hosted at the Historical Society Museum in Chipley.
They former telephone company workers came in from across the Panhandle to look at the switchboards on display at the museum in Chipley and enjoy renewing friendships with former co-workers. Forty former telephone company staffers attended the reception and mingled with friends, some of whom they had not seen in quite a while.
