Vernon, Florida Mayor Laura Olene Brewer was elected Mayor without opposition, probably because most know she is hard to outwork. Brewer heads up the annual Miss Firecracker Pageant every year in Vernon and all proceeds go to furnish the July 4 fireworks show held at the Vernon Recreation Center next to City Hall.
The 2019 event will feature ten categories and the region typically turns out the finest young ladies for the competition, which is fierce, as seen in these photos from past events by Real Florida Media, a subsidiary of The Goulding Agency in Chipley, Florida.
