No fireworks in Chipley July 4th ………………

The Chipley City Council announced Tuesday night there will be no fireworks show in Chipley this year and reminded residents that it is against the law to set off fireworks that explode or fly within the city limits.

Council members also heard from Rena Harrel regarding unauthorized individuals using the dumpsters in front of her office complex on Main Street.  City Administrator Dan Miner promised to check into what can be done to stop the unauthorized use of the dumpster she pays for.

Dealing with agenda items, council members took the following actions:

  •  Approved the minutes of the May 2nd Special Meeting, May 9th Workshop, and May 14th Regular Council Meeting.
  • Agreed with the City Administrator to take June to look at how to handle the remaining hurricane-related debris pickup.
  •  Approved a budget amendment for fiscal year 18/19.
  •  Approved the FDOT SCOP West Boulevard Design Services Contract with Genesis Halff, Inc.
  • Approved the FDOT LAP 5th Street Drainage Improvements CEI Services contract with Smith, Seckman, Reid, Inc.
  •  Approved the Grant Writing and Administrative Services Contract with David H. Melvin, Inc.
  •  Approved the Brickyard Road Water Tank Maintenance Agreement with U.S. Tank, Inc.
  • Approved a change to the Employee Classification Document to include a Code Enforcement Officer/P&Z Officer.
  • Approved the reappointment of Planning & Zoning Commitee Members Wanda Owens and Rebecca Cousson for three year terms.
  •  Approved the P&Z recommendation of placing a manufactured home on Parcel #00-1305-0000 on Rhynes Street .
  • Set a Workshop for July 8 at 5 p.m.
  • The July City Council meeting will be held July 9 at 6 p.m.
