Wausau Council asks Sheriff’s Dept. to come down hard on drug use on Town Property ……………..

Washington County Deputy Lt. Standland met with the Wausau Town Council Thursday evening in response to problems of drug users going onto Town property and using drugs at times when the facilities/properties are normally closed.

Councilmembers made it clear they are putting out a warning they are going to be coming down hard on those using drugs at anytime in parks, cemeteries and on other town-owned property.

Dealing with other agenda items at Thursday’s meeting, council members took the following actions:

  •  Approved a motion, 4-0, to place the Blue Star Marker at the northwest corner of the property where the new fire station will be located.
  •  Gave their support to the ‘Be Fearless Walk of Hope’ to be held Sept. 14th in Chipley.
  • Approved, 4-0, applying for a needed Northwest Florida Water Management District  permit.
  • Approved, 4-0, Resolution No. 19-003 adopting the Twon of Wausau Cross Connection Backflow Program.
  •  Adopted, 4-0, the Disaster-Specific Preparedness/Response Plan for the Town of Wausau Public Drinking Water System.
  • Approved, 4-0, the Town of Wausau Valve Exercising Standard Operating Procedures.
  •  Were informed the Town of Wausa has received some FEMA money and approved getting bids for some equipment needed for the fire department
  •  Approved a motion, 4-0, to again display old photographs of past Wausau Mayors and Councilmembers inside the Wausau Town Hall.
