WC School Board takes a look at 2019-20 budget …………………….

Memorers of the Washington County School Board met Thursday afteroon to begin discussion of the budget proposed for the FY 2019-2020 school year.

The proposed budget includes upgrading security at the county’s public schools, mental health training  for staff members, and free breakfast and lunch for students.

Projects marked as substantially completed during the past year include:

  •  Public restrooms at CHS football stadium
  •  CHS football stadium ADA renovations
  •  Parking lot at historic Kate Smith Elementary
  •  Renovation of historic KMS cafeterial for Board Meeting   Room
  •  Exhaust hood installed for CHS Culinary Class
  •  Fire alarm system at Vernon Elementary School

Projects still in progress include:

  •  Master Plan for  renovation/expansion of Florida Panhandle Technical College
  •  New serving line at Vernon Elementary School
  • Renovation of historic KMS classrooms for new District Office

The Washington County School Board will hold a Special Meeting on Monday, July 22nd at 4 p.m. to approve the Tentative Budget for 2019-2020.

The Washington County School Board will hold a Special Meeting at 5:05 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9th to adopt the Final Millage and Budget for 2019-2020.
