TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Terezín Declaration, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis is honoring Holocaust survivors by continuing efforts to reunite survivors and their heirs with compensation and restitution for financial assets and property stolen by the Nazis during World War II. Through CFO Patronis’ Division of Consumer Services, survivors can be reunited with stolen assets as determined by the Holocaust Victims Assistance Act.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “It’s absolutely critical that the world never forgets the horrors of the Holocaust. While we can’t undo the terrible evil victims endured, we can try our hardest to reunite these families with the property that was stolen from them by immoral governments during World War II. We can never restore the lives they once had, but it’s certainly our duty to try and make a difference in their lives now.”

The Florida Department of Financial Services provides assistance to Florida Holocaust survivors and their heirs seeking to recover proceeds from insurance policies issued to Holocaust victims and restitution for Nazi-confiscated bank accounts, art and property. Total monetary recoveries and assistance to date since the creation of the Holocaust Victims Assistance Program are $48,826,233.80.

Although many of the deadlines have passed for submitting claims to compensation programs, it may be possible to submit a claim directly with the financial institution or with remaining open restitution funds. The Florida Department of Financial Services provides education and assistance to Holocaust survivors and their heirs regarding restitution programs from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Austria, Hungary and other countries. Information and assistance is also provided to individuals seeking access to much needed home health care services.

The Holocaust Victims Assistance Helpline can be contacted at (800) 388-4069 or via email at HolocaustAssistance@MyFloridaCFO.com.
