Former Jackson County, Florida Deputy Zach Wester Arrested by FDLE in Drug Planting Probe

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, former Jackson County Deputy Zach Wester was arrested on Wednesday morning, July 10, 2019 on numerous charges that he planted street drugs, including meth, on unsuspecting motorists during traffic stops.

Zach Wester, 26, was arrested on felony charges of racketeering, official misconduct, fabricating evidence, possession of a controlled substance and false imprisonment by the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement).

Wester was also charged with misdemeanor charges of perjury, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an FDLE spokesperson.

Wester was arrested by FDLE agents in Wakulla County, Florida and taken to the Wakulla County Jail, where is being held without bail.

FDLE began its investigation last August at the request of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office after whispers of misconduct by Wester began to surface around the courthouse and he was placed on leave August 1, 2018 and later fired amid an internal affairs investigation a month later.
