The new Career Guidance Counselor with the Washington County, Ciara Jones, was guest speaker at this week’s Third Thursday Luncheon hosted by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and highlighted her duties with the District.
Noting that the new position is grant funded, Jones said she will be working with all students throughout the county and wants to make sure they are prepared to have a career.
Jones said the overall program will stress the following:
- Providing opportunities for students to expand their options.
- Assisting students in developing their individual goals.
- Helping students organize their thoughts about their career options.
Jones said the bottom line is to be sure to develop the students’ leadership skills.
Currently being planned is a Sept. 30th Career Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ag Center in Chipley. Jones said along with door prizes and food, there will be College Recuiters and Financial Aid Experts to talk with those attending about options available to students.
