Released by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office …
On Friday approximately 4:16 pm the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a subject shot at 220 Lakepoint Rd. Upon arrival it was discovered the owner of the property, William Wesley Bass, was attempting to enter his camper on the property when someone shot through the door from the inside striking Bass in the upper torso.
Deputies and EMS arrived. Bass was transported for medical treatment. Deputies remained in a standoff with the unidentified suspect with the suspect shooting inside the camper.
After approximately one hour the suspect surrendered without incident. The suspect was identified as Stephanie Jean Bell age 44. Bell was arrested, charged with attempted murder, armed burglary, and 10 counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officer with a firearm, and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
