Washington County School System personnel on hand at the Kiwanis Club meeting were pleased to be able to report that the 2019-2020 school year is off to a great start with great student participation in all areas of this year’s programs.
Superintendent Taylor reported that overall the number of students attending Washington County public schools is up and the numbers are expected to continue rising.
Both coaches have reported that expectations are high for all of the county’s school teams in the new school year and they are looking forward to the working with the young people.
CHS Principal Alicha Clemmons and VMS/VHS Principal Brian Riviere reported the year is off to a good start, with a variety of activities planned at both schools.
School Board member Milton Brown agreed that he was also pleased with the enrollment numbers climbing and said the overall test numbers are “looking good”.
All of the speakers appeared to agree with Coach Blake Wilson when he said the bottom line is trying to “grow up responsible young men and women” for the future.
