Proud to be descended from the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, R.D. Easterling was the guest speaker at Tuesday’s meeting of the Chipley Kiwanis Club and shared the history of some of the Indian related hunting items he has created.
Esterling said he studied the history of how members of the Cherokee Nation treated rawhide to create clothing, as well as how they hand crafted their own bows and arrows for hunting. Then he begin to create his own.
He displayed a variety of items he handcrafted over the years, including the bows and arrows he has made and now using for hunting.
