Hosting their October meeting at the home of Gwen Collins on Wednesday members of the Chipley Garden Club announced the Elite Realty will be receiving the ‘Yard of the Month’ honors and were thanked for helping make Chipley a nicer place to live and visit.
Reporting on September activities, President Debbie Mitchell described the recent Scarecrow Festival as a success with great participation from the community.
Mitchell also reminded members of the District II Fall Meeting being hosted Oct. 9th in Chipley and that the club will be taking part in the Dec. 6th Christmas Festival being held in Downtown Chipley.
Linda Pigott reported that the young people in the Chipley schools are excited about the programs being presented by the club. These include making terrariums, dish gardens and working with dried arrangements.
Ri McGlamery reported on the work the club will be doing with the Butterfly Garden at Falling Waters State Park and said she was ready to sign up volunteers wanting to work in the garden.
The Collins home was decked out in Halloween atmosphere which all of the garden club members thoroughly enjoyed.
The next meeting of the Chipley Garden Club will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6th at the First Presbyterian Church in Chipley. Anyone interested in joining the club is welcomes to attend the meeting.
