Panama City, FL – Students on Gulf Coast State College’s Cybersecurity demonstration and competition team, Tigris Academic Competition Team (T.A.C.T), recently earned a second place win in the Cyber Competition at the ITEN Wired Conference in Pensacola Beach, Florida.
The team, comprised of Kaleb Finnell, Dana Petty, Stephen Szmyr and Katharine Murphy, fought against fellow students from universities and state colleges from Florida and Alabama.
The three-day event highlights areas of cybersecurity, information technology and entrepreneurial communities, and explores emerging technology and innovations in start-up tech, artificial intelligence and robotics on the national scene.
Competitions such as these show that the students in GCSC’s Network System Technology Program are well prepared for the skills required by today’s cybersecurity workforce. “I am so impressed and proud of our GCSC students in how they handled themselves at the competition and how well they did competing against other college cybersecurity students,” said Dennis Dillenschneider, Sr., Assistant Professor of Computer Science and the team’s advisor.
