Washington County lifts burn ban ……….

While the Washington County Board of County Commissioners lifted their “burn ban” at their Oct. 24th meeting, they noted that burn permits are still required from the Florida Forest Service for burns over 65 square feet.

Dealing with other agenda items, the Board held three public hearings on the following requests:

  • Request a Special Exception for +/- 15 acres of a +/- 39.7-acre parcel of property located on Highway 79 West of Vernon to allow development of campground/RV park within the Agriculture/Silviculture Future Land Use Map designationDawn McDonald, Senior Planner
  • Request that Section 10.05.02.N., entitled “Type XIII Special Exception” be removed from the County’s Land Development CodeDawn McDonald, Senior Planner
  • Request to Amend the Future Land Use (FLU) designation of the property located on Clayton Road as identified as Parcel 00-2514-0016, from Agriculture/ Silviculture to Low Density Residential for the intended development of one residential dwelling unitDawn McDonald, Senior Planner

They also adopted the minutes from the following previous meetings:

  • September 12, 2019 Tentative Budget Hearing
  • September 19, 2019 Board Meeting
  • September 24, 2019 Final Budget Hearing

 

Moving on to other items, the Board  approved the following items:

  • Request a Special Exception for +/- 15 acres of a +/- 39.7-acre parcel of property located on Highway 79 West of Vernon to allow development of campground/RV park within the Agriculture/Silviculture Future Land Use Map designation.

  • Request to adopt changes to 2019-2020 EMPA Agreement
  • 2019 Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan
  • Reappointment of Seats #1 (Charles Kent), #4 (Ted Everett), and #7 (Bill Maphis) on the Tourist Development Council for a term of four years.
  • Memorandum of Understanding Between Washington County Board of County Commissioners and UF/IFAS Extension County Extension Director
  • Physicians Service Agreement
  •  Donating surplus console and dispactch equipment from the Sheriff’s   Office to Liberty County
  •  September vouchers totaling $1,902,580.13
  •  Resolution for County Road 273 over Hard Labor Creek for Off System  Bridge Project with the Florida Department of Transportation.
  •  Appointed Darrin Wall to the Washington County Planning Commission.
  •  Informed that the Florida Department of Transportation has funded the Brickyard Road project, commissioners approved a motion to move forward on the project.

 

Addressing other business, the Board members also discussed the following:

  •  Culpepper Landing Project – Commissioners rejected all bids that had been submitted.
  • Ag Center Roof – Commissioners announced they were about ready to advertise for replacement of the roof on the Ag Center in Chipley.
  •  Road Work – Commissioners also announced they are about ready to advertise for work on the Old Bonifay Highway and Cope Road.
  •  Sunny Hills MSBU – Commissioners approved placement of several street lights; purchase and connection of two fire hydrants; and appointment of Scott Parrish to Seat 4 on the MSBU Committee.

 

The next regularly scheduled Meeting of the Board will be a Board Meeting on November 14, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., CST at 1331 South Blvd., Chipley, Florida.
