(WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL; November 8, 2019) – An early morning traffic stop in Chipley ended in the arrest of three people Thursday.

Just after 6:30 a.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling the area of Clayton Road and State Road 77 stopped a car for speeding.

As he attempted to speak to the driver, 29-year-old Clifton Bryant, the deputy noticed Bryant shaking nervously.  As the deputy asked Bryant questions, the passengers continued to interrupt and answer for Bryant.

Noticing the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the deputy requested Bryant to step out of the car to talk to him.  During the conversation, Bryant consented to the vehicle being searched.

As the deputy conducted a search, he located a glass pipe containing methamphetamine wrapped in a handkerchief on the driver’s side and a plastic bag of methamphetamine in the purse of the front seat passenger, 17-year-old Whisper Guyer.  In the back seat area, the deputy located a black case containing a glass pipe, and a hypodermic needle.

Due to the back seat passenger, 54-year-old Patricia Meeks, hesitating to exit the vehicle when initially asked, the deputy further questioned Meeks about having narcotics in her possession.  Meeks then gave the deputy two plastic bags containing methamphetamine.

All three were taken into custody and booked into the Washington County Jail on felony possession charges.
