Every Monday a group of Meals on 2 Wheels volunteers donate their time to our nutrition program by delivering hot meals to seniors on their bicycles. During one of those Monday morning deliveries, a client informed them that his bike had been stolen from in front of his apartment.
The group was saddened to learn of his misfortune, as they knew he used his bike quite often to get around town. Springing into action, they pooled their funds and purchased the client a refurbished bike from Joe’s Bicycle Shop. In addition to it being a major upgrade, it also gave him a great connection to Joe’s Bicycle Shop for any future repairs! The client was overcome with emotion and so very thankful for our caring volunteers.
Thank you to the Meals on 2 Wheels group (Ken Schilling, Roger Holdener, Kelley El-Urfali, Mike Redig, and Marieanne Luber) for this selfless act of kindness. It’s because of people like you that we are able to do what we do for Big Bend seniors and their caregivers!
