Meeting in a re-organizational meeting Nov. 19th, members of the Washington County School Board voted to keep Dr. Lou Cleveland as chairman of the Board and approved Milton Brown to serve as vice chair for the coming year.
The Board also voted to keep their regular monthly meetings at 5 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.
The following agenda items were also approved:
- Salaries for Board members were kept at the State recommended salary schedule when it is established.
- Agreed to a one year contract with Fuqua & Milton and set a monthly retainer of $750 for the School Board Attorney, plus $175 an hour after a set five hours.
- Board member Will Taylor was named School Board Legislative Liaison and Susan Roberts was named Alternate.
- Board member Susan Roberts was named Small School District Council Consortium Board of Directors Liaison.
- School Board members anticipated travel to conferences for 2019-2020.
The School Board also approved changes to four School Board Policies/Procedures :
- Chapter 2.50 – School Board Governance and Organization – Board members’ participation in activities,
- Chapter 5.80 – Athletics
- Chapter 5.622 – Medical Marijuana
- Chapter 6.42 – Best and Brightest Teacher/Principal Program
