It is comforting to know that friends, family, and the festivities of the most joyous month will help prepare me for my third and final retirement. As I end my Elder Care Services tenure, I recall the good times I have experienced and all the positive impacts ECS has made not only on me, but on thousands of seniors in the Big Bend.
So many wonderful people are now in my life that would never have been here were it not for this amazing adventure. So many true heroes who give so freely and so abundantly — social workers who care deeply about their clients, staff members so passionate about their mission, volunteers who find so much joy in what they do, and supporters who are as loyal and true as any I have ever known.
My sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for making this journey so rewarding in so many incredible ways!
Once a year, Elder Care’s Elder Elf Program invites businesses, individuals, and families to “adopt” a senior for the holidays. This year, over 160 seniors have been matched with generous community members, and many other groups have signed up to provide individual gifts to make sure all the seniors we serve get a little extra holiday cheer! The Elder Elf program brings joy not only to the seniors receiving gifts, but to the often unsung heros of senior care, their caregivers. Hear from one caregiver below:
“Elder Elf is a blessing! That’s the best word I can think of….Elder Elf gives joy to those who are unable to get the things they need and desire. It helps out a lot and I’m glad to be a part of it.” – Elder Elf client caregiver

A big shout out to FBMC for holding a food drive to replenish our emergency food pantry! Our shelves are going from almost empty to overflowing thanks to their support.
As a part of our Senior Outreach Services program, the emergency food pantry provides bags of food to any Leon County senior in need. Community groups throughout Tallahassee are stepping up to provide emergency support for seniors by holding drives for nonperishable food, incontinence supplies, heaters, fans, and holiday gifts.
Elder Care is transforming lives for seniors every day. Hear our story in this video.
