Meeting in a Workshop Session Thursday afternoon Wausau Mayor Berna Palmer said she is looking at appointing someone at the Town Council’s Dec. 13th meeting to replace Councilwoman Carol West who resigned the position last month.  Palmer gave no clue as to who she might appoint, but said the issue will be addressed at the Council’s regular December meeting.

During the Workshop Session, council members commended both Steve Hallmark, with the Town’s Recreation Department, and David Ferguson, with the Town’s Maintenance Department, for the work they are doing.

Ferguson said he has spent recent weeks doing a lot of weed-eating and general cleaning-up to get the community ready for the upcoming holidays and scheduled events.

In his quarterly report to the Town Council Steve Hallmark said Dec. 16th will be the first game of Flag Football Season at the Possum Palace.  This program will run for 10 weeks with a two-week break and start another 10 week season.

Hallmark also reported that during September the recreation program had Pop Warner Football 3 to 4 nights a week with a good response.  In October they hosted Trunk or Treat and Haunted House at the Possum Palace with a big crowd turning out for the event.

Listing upcoming events set for December that the public is invited to attend the following were included:

  •  Dec. 7th – Winter Wonderland Beauty Pageant at the Possum Palace beginning at 10 a.m.
  •  Dec. 14th – Wausau Christmas Parade begins at 10 a.m.
