The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that 57 year old Carl Gillman of Ponce de Leon, was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash on U.S. 90 in Washington County.

According to the FHP, Gillman was traveling westbound on U.S. 90 in a 2006 Ford F250 and the Ford traveled off the paved portion of the roadway and onto the north shoulder.

The driver then over corrected, swerving to the right.   The Ford traveled back onto the roadway and crossed the westbound travel lane and into the eastbound travel lane.  The driver over-corrected a second time, swerving to the right.  This caused the Ford to begin rotating in a clockwise direction, as it traversed the eastbound ravel lane.

The Ford then traveled off the paved portion of the roadway and onto the south shoulder before colliding with a ditch.  The Ford then overturned before coming to final rest.  While overturning, the driver was ejected. The Ford then came to final rest in the ditch on the should shoulder of U.S. 90, the passenger side facing in a westerly direction.

The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.  The investigation is ongoing.
