Greenwood man dies in car crash ……………….

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that 29-year-old Torrey Godwin of Greenwood, Florida, died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash around 9 p.m. Friday night.

According to the FHP, Godwin was driving a 2007 Toyota north on S.R. 73 in the area of Hickory Hill when the vehicle collided with a deer causing the deer to enter the windshield of the vehicle.

The Toyota then crossed the center line into the northbound lane of travel and left the roadway on the west side of the highway.  The vehicle then collided with a fence on the west side of S.R. 73 and  traveled approximately 100 years, colliding with a tree on the west side of S.R. 73.

Godwin expired at the scene of the crash.
