The Washington County Friends of the Library welcomed Bill Lee to their Jan. 9th meeting. The author of two books – ‘Dirt Roads Leave Ruts in Your Soul‘ and ‘School Lessons Beyond The 3R’s’ – delighted listeners as he related what led him to write books dealing with growing up and living the rural areas of the deep south.

Both of the books contain essays in which he shares remembrances, experiences, and stories from more than 40 years in public education as teacher, coach, principal, and as a district level administrator in education.

During the business portion of Thursday’s meeting members were encouraged to attend the Jan. 22nd Library Day with the Florida Legislature.    Washington County Library Director Renea Rountree said support for library funding has decreased in recent years and Florida Legislators need to know that the public supports funding for libraries across the state.

It was also announced that the annual Game Night hosted by the Friends has been set for March 12th beginning at 6 p.m. at the John Wesley Fellowship Hall at the First United Methodist Church in Chipley.  Tickets will be $10 each.
