Meeting with Mott MacDonald representative Bill Perry  at their Jan. 9th Workshop Chipley Council members received an update on work being done  on the Chipley Effluent Project and the projected timeline for that work being completed in 2022.

Perry noted that the work schedule is still somewhat flexible, but added that the work is running smoothly.

Receiving reports from Department Heads showed that all departments are operating as follows:

  •  Recreation – 115 were registered for the basketball program.
  •  Code Enforcement – There are 88 active cases, but property owners are responding well to clean up requests.
  •  Planning & Zoning – City staffers are working with the those buying the Mongovern Building to get that structure cleaned up.
  •  Public Works – Work is underway on several roadways and all of the Christmas decorations are down.
  •  Water/Utilities – No violations were reported at the Wastewater treatment facility in November.  December’s report has not been received.
  •  Police – December was described as a “busy month”.

The following items were placed on the agenda for the Jan. 14th Council meeting:

  •  Ordinance No. 959 – Amendment to Chapter 2 – Sale of Municipal Real Property.
  •  Resolution No. 20-09 – CRA Procurement for Professional Services.
  •  Resolution No. 20-10 – FDOT M-SCOP Application Submission for Pecan Street.
  •  Special Event Application – Annual Easter Egg Hunt set for Wednesday, April 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shivers Park.

Council members also discussed when display of the American Flag  would be used along the designated parade route through Chipley.  Council members recommended that  the flags should not be put out for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
