With a strong field of eminently qualified competitors, there would have been no wrong choice as to which teacher to select as the Washington County, Florida School District ‘Teacher of the Year’ at the annual Award Ceremony on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Chipley.

Using the opportunity to showcase the new School District Board Room (the refurbished former Kate Smith Elementary School) in Chipley, educators, administrators and family members enjoyed a catered reception and the ensuing awards in a two-hour celebration of education on Thursday evening, with Florida Panhandle Technical College Adult Education Director Joli Hartzog walking away with the coveted ‘Teacher of the Year’ Award.

Vernon Middle School’s Carol Boswell was named as ‘Rookie Teacher of the Year’ at the event and WAVE (Washington Academy of Varying Exceptionalities) Instructor Senteria Steele captured the ‘School Related Employee of the Year’ award, as seen in these photos by the Digital Photography Program at Florida Panhandle Technical College in Chipley, Florida.

The event was catered by the Culinary Program from Chipley High School and many individuals and departments from throughout the School District made the event a success.
