October 2019 Washington County Fire Service received a new but needed piece of equipment for the citizens of Washington County. The Board of County Commissioners approved the purchase of the 1998 E-One Hurricane 95 foot aerial apparatus. This apparatus will be an asset to fire personnel for multi-level structures. In the City of Chipley there are several structures where this apparatus will be beneficial to the life safety of fire personnel and protection of structures. This 95 foot aerial has been assigned to the Chipley Fire Station for first response aerial to any multi-level structures in the county.
This apparatus has a 95 foot ladder and a 1500 gallon per minute pump.
The apparatus also carries 4 personnel, extra ground ladders and different types of equipment for fire suppression.
Having this apparatus in Washington County will also help with the ISO rating, benefitting homeowners and businesses.
The call sign for this apparatus is Tower 20 and will be on display at community events and outreach programs.
