The Washington County Fire Department, located at 3868 Gables Drive in Sunny Hills, recently received a lower ISO rating improving from a 7 to 5.
The best ISO is a 1 and the worst is a 10, so the lower the score, the better the rating. The ISO rating looked at the county’s communications system, fire department staffing/equipment and the water supply available for fire suppression.
The lower fire rating should result in decreased homeowner insurance rates.
“The dedication and hard work of our volunteers, as well as the recent SAFER grant received by Washington County which provided full time fire personnel Monday thru Friday at the Sunny Hills station, helped significantly reduce the ISO rating for our department”, said Chief Al Gothard.
The recent installation of new fire hydrants also played a major role in improving the water supply in Sunny Hills which is one major component of the rating system.
