WESTVILLE – A report of a suspicious person resulted in the arrest of a DeFuniak Springs man Thursday, February 6.

Deputies responded to Hickory Hill Church in Westville shortly before 8 p.m. and made contact on the church grounds with 43-year-old Johnthan Johnson of DeFuniak Springs.

A check through dispatch showed the tag on Johnson’s vehicle to be invalid.

As Johnson was being advised of the tag’s status, a clear bag containing methamphetamine fell to the ground from under where Johnson had been resting his hands on the hood of the vehicle.

A further search of Johnson’s duffel bag resulted in the discovery of a sun glass case that held a serving spoon containing large chunks of methamphetamine, a syringe loaded with methamphetamine, two empty syringes, and multiple clear baggies that contained meth residue.

Johnson was placed under arrest and is charged with distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, destroying/tampering with evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
