At the regular monthly luncheon meeting of the Woman’s Club of Chipley, Florida, local professional Corey Odom was introduced by businesswoman Gloria Potts and acknowledged for her contribution of $500 to the club’s improvement fund.
‘We depend on this kind of community support to be able to do our good works’, said Gloria Potts in her introduction of Odom, ‘and we truly appreciate the giving spirit of citizens such as Corey Odom’.
A non-profit entity, the women’s organization is located in Chipley, Florida in Washington County, and offers yearly fundraisers to provide scholarships to youth in the community.
In addition, the group organizes and executes special events such as the Chipley Bridal Expo, the Kirby Holiday Showcase, the Pork Plate Lunch and the Chipley Tour of Homes.
‘I am thankful for organizations such as the Woman’s Club of Chipley’ said Corey Odom, ‘and because of their efforts many of our local promising students will have the opportunity to take advantage of post-secondary education’.
Best known for her community involvement and generosity, Odom recently sponsored the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Christmas Turkey giveaway program, surprising county residents with a holiday treat.
‘We all have to make an effort to give back to the community in which we live’, said Odom, ‘it’s simply the right thing to do’.
Although not in attendance, Washington County Commission Chairman Tray Hawkins was acknowledged at the luncheon for his $200 contribution and David Corbin for his $100 donation to the fund.
