The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is expanding its reach to Veterans and providing access to care when and where they need it through digital technologies. Pretty innovative, right?

North Florida/ South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) recently launched VA Video Connect! This new service offering provides Veterans the ability to be seen by their VA health care team through a virtual medical room utilizing video capabilities on their smartphone, computer, or tablet.  Please see a video of the product here.

Currently we have roughly 1,600 of our Veterans utilizing VA Video Connect. We are seeking to increase the utilization of this service as there are great benefits

Benefits include:

  • reducing drive times of Veterans,
  • increasing access to care to Veterans in rural areas who have limited VA services,
  • affords the ability to allow family members from a distant to join the visit,
  • eliminates copayment, and
  • ensures quick access to care that meets the Veteran’s needs, when and where they need it.

Understanding that Veterans are an audience of your outlets, we wanted to reach out and gauge your interest in developing a story about VA Video Connect. We will also be hosting VA Video Connect demonstrations at our Connected Care Health Fair though out the health system that you are more than welcome to attend.

If interested in learning more, we would be more than happy coordinate interviews for you to demonstrate this new digital technology and share more information related to the Connect Care Health Fair. Please feel free to contact me. I am attaching of a brief info sheet of VA Video connect. You can also read more at www.mobile.va.gov/Appstore.
