The Washington County Board of County Commissioners held a short meeting Wednesday morning to approve an Emergency Medical Services Grant Resolution presented by EMS Director Randy Truett and then recessed until 11 a.m. so they could attend a Disaster Recovery Workshop hosted by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity at the Ag Center in Chipley.
Following their participation in the workshop, commissioners held their own workshop to set the agenda for their Feb. 20 regular monthly meeting. The following items were placed on that agenda:
- Certification for the Industrial Park – Ted Everett approached the Board regarding the need for having property certified that the County is selling. He said the move would make the purchase more attractive to potential buyers.
- Livestock Foster Care Agreement – Public Safety Director Lynne Abel said the County has a very small area in which to house animals that are picked up and suggested the County adopt a Foster Care program for larger farm animals that are picked up. She said recently 2 mules, a horse and a donkey were picked up and only the mules were claimed. The County only holds the animals for a limited time before they are destroyed.
- WeatherSTEM Agreement – Lynne Able said this system would be for the EOC and would give the County better weather monitoring capabilities.
- Firearms Policy – Amendment to the Employee Handbook allowing employees to carry firearms while at work if they have a concealed carry permit.
- 2019-2020 Budgeted Staffing Totals
- Employee Handbook Update dealing with position control
- Classification Pay Plan
