Chipley’s City Council led off Tuesday night’s meeting proclaiming March as ‘Theatre In Our Schools’ month. Theatre program students from Chipley High School joined Chipley Mayor Tracy Andrews and Councilman Kevin Russell for the proclamation signing.
Council members also heard from two Chipley residents concerned about the maintenance of sidewalks in the southern area of the city, streets in the area being used for vehicle races, ditches needing to be cleaned, and stray dogs running loose at night and turning over garbage cans. City Administrator Dan Miner said the issues will be looked at immediately.
Council members also approved the following agenda items:
- Ordinance No. 960 – which deals with an amendment to Private Property Standards and Abatement of Nuisances to improve the appearance of the downtown area. Those not abiding to the ordinance will have their cases turned over to Code enforcement.
- Ordinance No. 961 – First Reading – This deals with a language change requested by FEMA
- Resolution No. 20-15 – This continues the designation and will make grants easier.
- Engineering Services contract with Mott MacDonald dealing with the Chipley Effluent Project.
