TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In response to both chambers passing SB 1794, a bill that adds additional steps to placing a Citizen Initiative on a ballot, the League of Women Voters of Florida President Patricia Brigham offered the following statement:
“The League is extremely disappointed in the Florida legislators who voted up on this bill. Time after time citizens utilized this process when our elected officials refused to act.
Issues like restoring voting rights, drawing fair districts, setting class sizes, and funding land and water conservation have all passed by ballot initiative.
We call on Governor Ron DeSantis to veto SB 1794 immediately.”
